NEURODIVERSITY/ ADHD/AUTISM

The number of people experiencing autism spectrum disorders (ASD), attention deficit and hyperactivity disorders (ADD/ADHD) and mood disorders is dramatically increasing.  It can be a very emotional and challenging time for all and can leave people feeling incredibly overwhelmed.

Nutrient deficiencies are often seen in neurodiverse children and adults, especially omega-3, an essential fatty acid that nourishes the brain. Iron, zinc and magnesium needed for dopamine synthesis can be insufficient, alongside vitamin D and B vitamins all vital for brain health.

Genetic testing can be helpful to identify traits impacting dopamine synthesis or increased needs for specific vitamins/ minerals or problems with absorption. Looking at omega-3 levels, vitamin and mineral status, heavy metal toxicity and microbiome health can help identify underlying insufficiencies.

Many research studies have implicated the gut-brain axis in neurodiversity and ASD claiming a ‘definitive association’ between changes in gut microbiome and observable traits and symptoms of individuals with ASD. The gut produces many neurotransmitters, including serotonin which plays a vital role in regulating mood and behaviour. Optimising gut health is paramount to improving overall well-being.

If you or family members are struggling with challenging behaviours associated with neurodiversity please get in touch.

Common Questions

Naturopathic nutrition addresses imbalances in the body which contribute to sickness and disease. It differs from other nutritional therapies because it treats the whole person, not just the symptoms and offers long-term solutions to optimise health. We use whole foods, supplements and lifestyle adjustments to help bring your body into balance.

Initial consultations take around 1hr to 1.5hrs, we take detailed case histories going back to childhood to understand your health journey and help us understand where your body needs support. We then create personalised programmes tailored to your needs. Depending on the package you choose, follow up meetings and support will be set up to keep track of your progress.

Follow up appointments are generally 30-45 minutes depending on the complexity of health issues. We will discuss how the plan is going, your symptoms, any new symptoms, discuss test results. Nutrition and supplement plans will be adapted as your health journey evolves.

Initial consultations are £150, follow up sessions are £70. Packages are available and can be discussed during your free 15-minute discovery call.

No, these are at an additional cost. The NHS and your GP may be able to facilitate some testing, however private testing is also often required. Functional testing can be arranged for our patients at discounted prices, and we work within defined budgets to achieve best outcomes.

We always prefer to meet our patients in person for the initial consultation, however we are very happy to do video consultations to work around your location and schedule.
